Territories
The forest is divided into four territories, one for each clan, plus the neutral ground where they meet. Every landmark has a name, and every cat knows them by heart.
ThunderClan Territory
Landscape: Dense deciduous forest with thick undergrowth
Landmarks
- The Sandy Hollow — A sandy dip used for training apprentices. Soft ground makes falls less painful.
- Sunningrocks — A cluster of warm rocks by the river. Disputed with RiverClan for generations.
- The Owl Tree — An ancient oak where an owl nests. Apprentices dare each other to climb it.
- The Old Thunderpath — A twoleg road, long unused, now overgrown.
- The Abandoned Twoleg Nest — A crumbling building at the border. Good shelter, bad memories.
Camp
Hidden in a ravine behind a waterfall of brambles. The entrance is narrow and easily defended — a fact that has saved the clan more than once.
RiverClan Territory
Landscape: Riverbanks, reed beds, and a few small islands
Landmarks
- The River — The clan's lifeblood. Prey, border, and highway all at once.
- The Halfbridge — A twoleg structure crossing the river. Cats can walk its beams.
- The Reed Beds — Dense reeds where water voles hide. Excellent hunting, easy to get lost.
- The Island — The clan camp, reachable only by swimming. Extremely defensible.
- The Twoleg Green — A manicured field where twolegs play. The clan avoids it.
Camp
On an island in the middle of the river. Attackers must swim, and RiverClan cats are faster in water than any other clan.
WindClan Territory
Landscape: Open moorland, few trees, constant wind
Landmarks
- The Outlook Rock — The highest point on the moor. You can see every other territory from it.
- The Gorge — A deep ravine on the border with RiverClan. Dangerous and impassable in the dark.
- The Tunnel System — Old badger tunnels running under the moor. Used as shelter during storms.
- The Abandoned Barn — A twoleg structure where rats live. Apprentices hunt here to prove themselves.
- The Standing Stones — Ancient stones on the northern moor. No one remembers who raised them.
Camp
Hidden in a hollow in the moorland, surrounded by gorse. There is almost no cover between the camp and the borders — WindClan cats rely on speed rather than concealment.
ShadowClan Territory
Landscape: Dark pine forest and marshland
Landmarks
- The Carrionplace — A twoleg dumping ground. Rats are plentiful, disease more so.
- The Marsh — Boggy ground that traps the unwary. ShadowClan knows every safe step.
- The Burnt Sycamore — A tree struck by lightning generations ago. Still standing, mostly.
- The Thunderpath — A busy twoleg road. The clan's southern border, and a source of constant danger.
- The Dark Hollow — A cave system under the pines. Seldom visited, and never alone.
Camp
In a hollow surrounded by brambles and pine, easy to defend and difficult to find. The dark canopy above means ShadowClan cats hunt well in low light.
Neutral Ground
Fourtrees
Where all four territories meet. Four ancient oaks stand in a clearing. This is where Gatherings are held at the full moon.
Fighting here is forbidden by the warrior code, and StarClan enforces the truce.
The Moonstone / Moonpool
The sacred place where leaders receive nine lives and medicine cats speak with StarClan. Its location is known to medicine cats and leaders but not taught to apprentices until they need it.
Borders in Game
Marking
Each clan marks its borders with scent lines renewed daily. Fresh marking = stronger claim.
In game: Border patrols are a daily activity. Each marker you renew grants XP, and failing to renew them lets enemy patrols push in.
Crossing
Crossing a border without cause breaks the warrior code.
In game: Crossing triggers a warning, then a patrol encounter, then honor loss if you continue. During certain story events, crossing is sanctioned.
Disputes
Sunningrocks is the longest-running dispute, contested between ThunderClan and RiverClan for as long as anyone remembers.
Map Reading Tips
When you're new to the territory, learn these first:
- Your camp entrance — you'll need to find it fast
- The nearest prey-rich area — for early hunting quests
- The nearest border — so you know where not to go
- The route to the Gathering place — for monthly events
